Moving

It's been pretty quiet on my blog for the last few months, but I have an excuse: my husband and I bought a house!

The photo above is of my new sewing room. I'm unpacking things right now and can't wait to get my machines all set up and actually make something. It has been several weeks since I have sewn anything and I'm getting antsy.

So, I apologize for my lack of commenting on all of your blogs. Once I get settled in I have a lotttt of posts to catch up on on BlogLovin. So, "hi" and how are you guys? What have I missed?

  1. Congrats!!!! That's so exciting! Moving can be so stressful (*how do I have SO much stuff?*) and then add buying a house to the mix and it can be even more stressful, but totally worth it. Enjoy unpacking and organizing and getting your sewing stuff set up!

  2. Thanks, Kaoru! Escrow was the biggest nightmare for us, but I am happy that it is over with and I can focus on our new place :)

  3. Isn't escrow a nightmare? A friend of mine described it as "rage inducing" and I couldn't agree more.

  4. Congratulations, Erin! I totally relate to this post--my husband and I bought our house this time last year and it was killer. That sewing room looks promising though!!

  10. Summer = sewing, blogging, and reading for me too! Are there any books you'd recommend?

  11. Ooh ooh yes - I just finished "Mademoiselle Chanel" and it was very interesting. Much less design/sewing and much more life/drama than I expected, but still... lol
Also I recently finished "The Buried Giant" which I personally loved - really unique fantasy story with an elderly couple as the protagonists - I really enjoyed it! How about you? Any good reads lately, or before the crazy move - hah :)

  13. I told my mortgage broker, who was fine but the third one I talked to, that I'd rather give birth to twins and raise them myself than ever go through this again. He was actually offended even when I said it was the process not the people. He just didn't think it was "any big deal" to have someone crawl up my financial rear with a microscope, so I guess it's all about perspective. I got most of my sewing room stuff unpacked before I really noticed how dirty the walls were so now everything is shoved into the middle of the room or in the hallway while I paint. I'm DETERMINED that I will have a sewing room by the end of this weekend! Or there will be tears. Or both :)

  14. I'm seriously so excited for you guys!!! I can't wait to fly out and sleep on your couch as soon as I possibly can ;) ;)

  15. So did you get to sew this weekend?!?!

I've never had a kid, so I can't relate to the twins thing, but I hear you. Not a process I want to go through again anytime soon!

  16. Ok, I need to add those to my Amazon list!

Have you read The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer? It's a book that I read somewhat recently and really enjoyed. In fact, I can't stop thinking about it...

  17. You can stay in the guest room, but you have to stay for a long time!!! :)

  18. Only some sheer curtains, BUT I got the sewing room painted and mostly organized. I'll finish up tonight if I don't get distracted by something shiny :) And I got to go to the flea market so STUFF!

  19. Congratulations! I can only imagine how hectic things must be.
My advice, is ride the wave, enjoy it and don't put too much pressure on yourself. There is enough already going on :)
Ooo. I hope you give us a sewing room tour - when your settled :)

  20. Congratulations! I know well how big a deal it is to buy a house on the central coast - on the other hand, so worth it! I think I didn't sew anything for two months after we moved, there are so many "quick" house projects that add up and suck all your time... hopefully you'll get back to it soon, in your new sewing room!
