CLSC - deadline extended and giveaway
Hi everyone! I have a few announcements regarding the Cat Lady Sewing Challenge.
1. The deadline is extended! Quite a few of you have e-mailed and reached out to me on social media asking for a little more time. I hear ya! So, let's share our finished garments by Sunday, November 9th.
2. When you have your blog/Instagram/Flickr photos up please comment on this post with a link, so I can check them out. Based on the comments I'll do a photo roundup of everyone's makes on my blog after the 9th.
3. Oh yeah, the giveaway prize! If you comment below with your link you will be eligible to win a sewing pattern of your choice. Choose any company, printed or pdf, winner's choice. I'll pick one cat lady at random and the giveaway is open worldwide. Just make sure to let me know which pattern you are hoping to win and the link to your blog/Instagram/Flickr photos on or before November 9th.
4. I lied to you guys. I can't make the Cressida skirt with my cat fabric, so I'm making something else instead :( It was such a dumb dumb move on my part, I didn't even think about the fact that my fabric was directional AND 45 inches across, so not all the pieces would lay the way I had hoped. I figured it would be better to make something else instead of having sideways cats across my butt haha
5. Please accept this photo of LeBron as an apology for me being a liar about my CLSC sewing project.

Even though I am quickly becoming a CDL (crazy dog lady), here's a gift I made for my CCL friend http://megmadethis.blogspot.com/2014/10/cat-pillows.html
ReplyDeleteHi, please enter me for the giveaway - I'd like Tilly and the Buttons COCO - so many people have made some really lovely ones which are perfect for Autumn. Blogged my Cat Lady Challenge at www.clarindakaleidoscope.com
ReplyDeleteErin, don't worry about changing your sewing plans. Most stitchers understand that sometimes the original plan just doesn't work out. I'm not participating in the CLSC. I just wanted to wish everyone in the challenge well and say I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's' makes. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet, Vanessa!!! This comment made me feel a lot better :) xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you feel better. We just put too much pressure on ourselves sometimes. Life is way too short and sewing it meant to be way more fun :)
ReplyDeleteLove your cat pillows#
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your original plan didn't work out, but I know you'll end up with something wonderful! I can't wait to see even more makes from my fellow Cat Ladies! Here is a direct link to my FO blog post for this challenge: http://lifeinamadshouse.wordpress.com/2014/10/27/completed-cat-lady-sewing-challenge-2-piece-set-acular-extravaganza/
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win the Mai Zip Jacket from Named--I've been dying to make that out of a quilted knit in my stash!
Bummer about the skirt, it would have been cute! I blogged about my cat lady make, http://smeebotsews.wordpress.com/2014/09/16/cat-lady-sewing-challenge/ and posted on flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/smeebot/15442380926/. I would love to try the Deer and Doe Belladone dress.
ReplyDeleteHurray for deadline extension. I only just finished cutting out my fabric last night. The kitty print polyester I'm using is the single most static-y clingy fabric ever, it crackles! I've changed my pattern plans, added a cotton lining to the whole thing but I'm still not confident. What a nightmare. So please don't feel bad for having to change your sewing plans x
ReplyDeleteYay for the extension! I have plans but so far am yet to execute them!!
ReplyDeleteYay more cat lady sewing projects!! I can't wait to see them all!
ReplyDeleteI blogged about mine here: http://www.whereheathergrows.com/2014/10/radar-love/
I think the pattern I would choose would be the Named Wyome jeans - but oh my goodness there are so many amazing patterns out there to choose from! Thanks for putting this all together Erin! I don't envy you in the judging - it's going to be tough!
Well, that is delightful (she says as her #catladysewingchallenge blouse lies cut and unsewn). Too bad about your skirt, but excited to see your finished project! #CatsRule
ReplyDeleteOh Hallelujah! I've got my dress half cut out, changed my mind on the skirt, found out I have two animals with cancer (none of them cats...this time), have to move and now can't find the other half of my pattern. I now have a chance to get this done so thank you :)
ReplyDeleteAs Rachel recently said, until the fabric is a finished garment, plans for that fabric can continually change :) Here's my project: http://thegarmentfarmer.wordpress.com/2014/10/25/undercover-cat-lady/ I can't wait to get ahold of the Linden sweatshirt pattern (pdf).
ReplyDeleteI just got mine up! I can't wait to see all of the other projects! Thanks again for hosting Erin- this was a really fun challenge.

Oh yay! I've got mine all cut out but don't have any thread even remotely close in color. Too late now to hit the fabric shop. We roll up the sidewalks here at 6pm.
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks for organizing this fun challenge! I've got two CLSC makes: http://cookinandcraftin.blogspot.com/2014/10/sorbetto-and-prefontaine-pjs-cat-lady.html and http://cookinandcraftin.blogspot.com/2014/10/leopard-simplicity-1666-cat-lady-sewing.html
ReplyDeleteYay I thought I was going to be late! Always glad to find out I'm not the only procrastinator and also not the only one who doesn't always remember directional prints!

ReplyDeleteHere's mine! Using the Myrtle dress pattern from Colette, and fabric designed by Melissa Ormonde through Spoonflower. I'm inspired by Megan Connolly's dress below and would love to try Christine Hayne's "Chelsea" dress.
ReplyDeleteBlog still to come, but the instagram link is: http://instagram.com/p/vIPexpsBrt/
Such a fun challenge I made an embroidered cat dress! https://laulipopnz.wordpress.com/2014/11/09/crazy-cat-lady-sewing-challenge/
ReplyDeleteThanks for this, I had fun! My post is here http://acharmofmagpies.wordpress.com/2014/11/08/fo-cat-lady-sewing-challenge-top/ I would be after something from Ralph Pink but I haven't quite narrowed it down yet, in the unlikely chance I win could I confirm with you then? Otherwise I'll never post this in time as I'll be lost on the RP website for hours! :)
ReplyDeleteI wish this challenge could be a year round event, cat fabrics for the win! Here's my wee entry http://thepolkadotinfinityroom.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/cat-lady-sewing-challenge-whatever.html and if the random generator chose me I would love a printed copy of By Hand London's Anna. Thank you so much for suggesting and hosting this challenge Miss Crayola Creepy!
ReplyDeleteYay for the extension! :-D (And also, like others have said, don't worry about changing plans - it's one of the joys of sewing, being able to change your mind/plans/etc as you go. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI've just blogged mine - not 100% sure it qualifies as I based it around a cat applique patch instead, but it can be found here: http://macskakat.wordpress.com/2014/11/09/cat-lady-cardi/
And if it does qualify, and I am lucky enough to win the Random Generator of Happiness, I'd pick the 1940's tea dress pattern from Sew Over It.
Thanks for hosting such a fabulous challenge! :-D
Thank you for another great challenge and allowing leopard cat prints!! http://www.sewmelodic.com/2014/11/cat-lady-sewing-challenge-leopard-set.html
ReplyDeleteHurrah. My cat dress is done, blogged about here: http://juliacroyden.blogspot.com/2014/11/jellicle-cats-have-cheerful-faces.html, and photos on flickr. If I win the giveaway, I would like a ByHandLondon pattern that isn't the Anna dress - maybe the Flora dress, or Kim.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting such a brilliantly fun challenge xx
Now I'm off to buy a cat.
Thanks for coming up with such a great challenge... and for the deadline extension! My make is blogged here: http://blog.lindsaywoodward.com/2014/11/cat-lady-shirt.html And if I win the pattern I'd love to get a printed copy of the Jedediah pants to make for my husband :)
ReplyDeleteHello Hello! I have had my dress finished for a couple of weeks now, but only just realised that I had to link it up here... nooo! Please tell me I am still in time! I haven't any nice photos of me wearing my dress, but as soon as I get them, they will be added to my blog http://sewpunny.wordpress.com/
ReplyDeletewhere there are already several posts dedicated to my cat lady dress! I also have photos of it on flickr, aand 'during' photos on my instagram. I can't pick yet what pattern I would choose if I won, in the unlikely even I was picked, could I choose then? Thank you for hosting, this was my first participation in a sewing competition, and I really enjoyed it!
