Project Sewn Theme 2
Aloha! I know I'm not in the Project Sewn competition anymore, but I'm going to keep sewing along anyways. One, because I bought the fabric and patterns for all the looks and they are garments that I would make with or without Project Sewn. Two, because so many of you said you would like to see what I planned on doing, which made me really happy! I may or may not post at the same time as the PS competition (it's awesome not having deadlines!), but eventually I will blog about them.
I made the same changes as my first version (narrow shoulder adjustment and shortened bodice, but other than that nothing differed from the original pattern. By the way, the pattern is currently 30% off, so if you have been debating buying it then I would do it ASAP to get in on that discount.
You can never go wrong with a dress with pockets.
Some of these photos are a crack up! Below each, I have shared my photo inspiration. Oh, my friend Shannon of Moore Photography took all of these photos (she's the one that took photos for my Edie look) the same day that she photographed my first look. I worked ahead of schedule just to make sure Shannon could do both. When I have an opportunity to work with her I take full advantage! :)
The House of Pinheiro.
Don't forget to enter my giveaway for the new Colette book and two yards of knit fabric. The contest ends tonight. Later homies!

ReplyDeletePS - I watched The Factory Girl the other night! It was a great bio pic and the costumes were awesome. I didn't feel like Edie Sedgwick came off and especially sympathetic, but she certainly lived an interesting life!
It's beautiful Erin, that floral print is divine!!!

ReplyDeleteI love this one as much as your Edie look as well. Orange is my favorite, and as a base for lush garden? I would have voted for this one at least ten times too.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Sallie! Part of me wants to wear black all day every day, but then I see such pretty fabric and I throw that idea right out the window.
ReplyDeleteDid you sew Emery yet? Are you as obsessed with it as I am? :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the sweet words! xoxo!

ReplyDeleteYou are the best! xo
ReplyDeletehaha thanks, Leah!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The lip color is a blend of an orange lip liner and a magenta lipstick.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteI wish I bought more of the fabric, my only regret!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marie!!!!
ReplyDeleteI DID!!!!! And because of her instructions I sewed the first invisible zipper that didn't make me crazy. I made it in a wool/cotton Liberty Lantana (Strike) and put elbow length sleeves on it. It ended up being just a little tighter than I wanted but the bodice lining fabric is kind of a crappy cotton voile and it didn't have any glide, so....I'm going to do that again. I can't believe I haven't made a second one but I have some black rayon coming and while I know it's crazy to make such a happy dress in black, I keep having these visions of walking down the street in the NC humidity wearing my drapey black Emery with strappy sandals and white sunglasses. We shall see!!!!!
ReplyDeleteActually, right now I'm wearing a tunic made from the same material you made your Emery in! Connection!!!
Isn't she fascinating?!!? I think Sienna Miller and the rest of the cast did such a good job! Even though Edie's personal choices aren't choices that I would have made, I can't help but be so intrigued by her. I don't know what it is!
ReplyDeleteI think a black version would be so chic. You should totally do it!
ReplyDeleteWhich Emery, the black and yellow or floral? Because I'm going to be super jealous if you got that red floral fabric! I wish I bought more!
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marcy! Coming from you, Queen of gorgeous and fun, that really means a lot! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks, Trine!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I bought more fabric :(
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think I will get a lot of wear out of it this summer :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shanni!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharyn!
ReplyDeleteXO
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Paige! xo
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your photos! I know your dress will be lovely, like everything you make :)
ReplyDeleteNot to worry -- the black and yellow. I hate when I don't buy enough fabric -- for some reason, I always think if the fabric is 60" I can scrape by with 2 yards. No. No. No. Maybe you can find it somewhere else????
ReplyDeleteSometimes I find last season's fabrics on FabricMart or Denver Fabrics -- I keep seeing a certain Marc Jacobs there....I know it's incredibly time consuming but who knows? It's pretty great, by the way. Really happy fabric for a very happy making dress. Everyone should have an Emery.
