I'm out.

Guess who got eliminated on Project Sewn, womp womp. Of course I'm a little sad that I didn't make it to the next round, but surprisingly I'm not bent out of shape over it. Honestly, I think the competition is a mix between a popularity contest and personal taste. I dress differently than other people, so how can I get bummed if their style preference isn't the same as mine? I can't!

The last few days have been so wonderful because of all of you! You have no idea how much it touched my heart to see all the sweet comments from you guys, my friends. Knowing that some of you took the time to vote for me, cross promote me on various social media sites, and send me sweet messages really almost brought tears to my eyes at some points. Thank you for making me feel so loved! xo

  1. This is akin to Lauren being out first round last season. You make beautiful garments, and your outfit was spot on with your inspiration! At least now you can do more stress-free sewing!

  2. Thank you so much!

I couldn't believe it when Lauren was eliminated in the first round, her look was one of my favorites. We both have a sense of humor about it though. We have been texting back and forth and I think we are going to throw ourselves a round one rejects party or something haha :)

  3. I was so bummed to see the results this morning, but I knew you'd take it in stride. :) You did a great job, and your outfit was perfection in my book! Definitely enjoy some deadline-free sewing!

  4. I WILL BRING THE BOOZE. it is, & was, criminal that both of you were out in one, so the only remedy is OBVIOUSLY criminal amounts of cocktails.

(at first i spelled remedy "remediy" which is sort of freudian, and telling that i'm on my first weekend drinky drink)

    i adoooooooored your outfit.

  5. Thank you, Marcy! How do you feel about Moscow Mules? That's all I want to drink lately.

  6. Oh man, it is soooo nice not having deadlines right now! Last night I just chilled on the couch and watched stupid tv shows while knitting a beanie haha

  7. I was bummed to see the results this morning Erin! I voted for you and everything but it is hard when your style is different and it is a bit of a popularity contest. I love your style and the photos you took. I was as shocked just as I was when Lauren went.

  8. I voted for you, I loved your outfit!

  9. I can't believe you are out, your outfit was da bomb, and you got my vote.

  10. Aw man. Readers have gotten increasingly picky since the first season. You did a great job and now you have an awesome dress and cardigan to wear regularly. And you can watch the NBA playoffs without sewing guilt. xo

  15. Someday when they do a Project Sewn: All Stars...

I seriously was so bummed you were out! Your outfit was on point and I was really looking forward to seeing what you would do the rest of the month.

  16. Hey you got one kick ass outfit out of the deal!! So yeah no reason to be bummed about it..but I was sad to see you go. I loved your outfit!

  17. I was so sad to see you were done! I really, really wish that everyone could just sew every theme every week- I hate competitions! :(

  19. this was the drink of choice at a recent workroom social crafty hour! for you, anything. though you don't have to twist my arm when vodka and ginger beer is involved.

  20. Sad face...you were my vote. None the less I can not wait to see whatever you make next without the confines of a theme or under the gun.

  21. So sorry to hear we will not see you in the next round . . . I think your take on the competition is spot on. Glad to hear you had fun with it, because that is the most important thing! And I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

  22. I loved (and voted for) your outfit! I wish that PS didn't' eliminate people week by week, but just came up with accumulative totals for a final result - would be more interesting to see the full range of designs from all the designers. Your design was so cool and chic - I could 100% see Edie Sedgewick wearing it. Don't be disheartened!

  23. I loved your outfit - it does totally rock! How 'bout watch the NBA finals with a pretty cocktail in hand! My team looks like it is heading on the way out but I hope they rally in the next few games (I live in Portland if that gives you a clue) :)

  24. Oh Erin! I'm so bummed!! Especially after your AHmazing take on Edie!

  25. You had my vote, babe!! You look fab in that outfit!!

  26. I don't like the elimination process of all of these competitions. I know, everyone is simply mimicking the TV shows. The Fiber Factor, a competition put on by Skacel did something different. This was a knitting competition and they never eliminated anyone. In the final show they chose a winner, but all along all the contestants created work. The show was up on their website, unfortunately the production qualities aren't great, but the concept was

  27. You know, Miss CC, you really lucked out here in a way. You got your work out there, made a bunch of new pals, and didn't have to rumble through weeks of challenges that frankly may have been less than interesting to put together and use resources on. You got a free trip to ...Miami let's say...and then you got to spend the rest of the week on the beach or sailing the Keys rather than in the hotel at College Bowl 1979 (well, it worked for me). And I love that you channeled Miss Edie!

  28. That's sad. I really loved your week one outfit and concept

  29. I simply admire your guts for entering such a thing! It kinda freaks me out a little, as I think a surprisingly small part of it is about the sewing... and more about the styling and photography. Sewing under pressure like that? Phew. All you ladies who have been involved should be super proud simply for putting yourselves under the microscope like that.

  30. So sorry to see you out because I would so loved to have seen your takes on floral and travel destination ( can't think of exact descriptions) and personal style….I love your style and it would have been really cool to see you go on. Will you blog the makes sometime anyway? I'm guessing you got to see categories with enough time to plan, buy fabric etc….it would be lovely to see what you'd come up with, and now you don't have the stress of having to do it to the Project Sewn deadlines :) Glad you can keep your chin up, I think anyone going in for this has incredible guts because I do think a lot of whether you stay or not isn't just down to how well you sew or design but how many followers you have too. We love you! Keep on, keeping on.

  31. I adore your Edie look! You're in good company with Lauren, some consolation. Hope you'll continue to share what you have in the works. Xo

  32. Gaah - I didn't want you to go!! Project Sewn is a funny competition, bit more of a popularity contest rather than what is good and wearable. Well done on taking part, I am sure it is a big commitment and an imposition into your normal routine. As long as you ended up with garments you can wear, that is the main thing :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I was very picky about the fabrics I bought and patterns I used. I made sure to choose things that I liked, so either way the outcome would be good for me :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thank you, Lee! I will definitely continue to post what I would have entered. The plus is that I can do it at my own pace!

    ReplyDelete
  35. It really means a lot to me that you want to see what else I've made! :) I will definitely keep posting them, but probably at a slower pace than the competition. It is so nice to have my free evenings back! XOXO

  36. Thanks, Melanie! Sewing under pressure is definitely stressful, but it's done, so now I can breathe a little haha.

  37. Can we change Miami to Hawaii? ;) haha. That is an awesome way of looking at it! Thanks for the sweet words! xo

  38. Thanks, Sallie! I think my life goal might be to dress more like Edie, so there will be more "Edie goes Creepy" outfits to come!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh hell yeah! Moscow Mules and Clippers games! My husband wanted to go to yesterday's game against OKC, but we didn't go :( What a nailbiter! It's pretty cool that Portland has made it so far!

  40. Thank you so much for the vote and for the nice words. I too, wish that it was based on accumulative totals. That is a great idea!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hey, maybe I should send them an email about this - for next time. Since it's only 6 people, sure they can announce the winner and loser each week, but not eliminate them. All right, done, I'm going to do that right now.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks, Laura Mae! More Creepy outfits to come :)

  43. Thank you so much, Melody! I appreciate your vote! xoxo

  46. hahaah! I like how Project Runway started the Tim Gunn save. I almost cried when he used it last season.

  48. It has been so nice to sit on the couch and watch games! Yesterday we were at my grandma's house watching it. She was taking a nap and Luke was trying to keep the yelling to a minimum, which was hard to do. How wild was that game? I was happy that the Clippers won because it was a 45 minute drive back to our house and I did not want to hear Luke complaining the whole way home haha And ew, did you see the Sterling interview?

    ReplyDelete
  49. haha that's so rad! Thank you so much for the vote.

  50. So here is what I just sent over to Project Sewn, I hope it sounds respectful.I am loving following the different project Sewn - they are wonderful. One issue I have with all of these competitions is the process of elimination. Of course I understand having one winner.
The Fiber Factor http://thefiberfactor.com did it very differently. This was a knitting competition. What they did was keep all the designers for the duration. Yes, each week there was a winner and a loser, but no one went home. At the end they chose the Winner of the whole competition. Since Skacel has patterns and yarn, there was a great benefit of becoming their designer of the year.

So maybe for next project sewn you can do something similar? Announce the winner and loser of the week, but keep all of the designers creating until the end?? We creative folk love seeing what people do from week to week, but it’s not the reality TV aspect of eliminating people that excites us.

    Just a thought.

  52. Girl you already know how I feel about this situation. All I can say is you gave it your best shot, you made a gorgeous garment that you can be truly proud of, and you had the guts to give the contest a try. You can't ask for anything more at the end of the day. You're gonna go on to do great things and you don't need a contest to prove that ;) <3

  53. I thought your outfit was great. And, hey, remember that Lauren from Lladybird was out on the first round and that's certainly no reflection on not being a really great and cool sewist!!!!

  54. Erin, I've been meaning to comment forever, sorry! I just wanted to say that you're awesome, your outfit was awesome and it was super brave of you to go ahead and enter a competition like that! I voted for yours and I agree with what others said about how it would be better if they didn't do the elimination thing so we could see everyone's great creations and a variety of styles and tastes. And at least you're coming away with a cool outfit- I love the cardigan :)
